Mela Chiraghan (Shalimar Mela)

Mela Chiraghan or Mela Shalimar happens to be another biggest cultural festival of Pakistan. It lasts for three consecutive days and marks the Urs (death anniversary) of the great Punjabi Sufi poet of the Punjab and saint Shah Hussain (also known as Madhu Lal Hussain).

Mela Chiraghan takes place at the shrine of Shah Hussain situated in Bhaghbanpura located at the outskirt of Lahore. The shrine is adjacent to the Moghul historical garden Shalimar Gardens (known as Shalimar Bagh).

Mela Chiraghan is held every year during the last week of March. People come to attend the mela from all over the country and even from the other countries. Shops are arranged at the mela where people shop. People celebrate this festival with oomph.
